Once you open this link, select your system model and the operating system and select " All files for Inspiron 15R " and go to "Input" and you will find the touch pad driver. Save it first on your desktop. Once that is done, please uninstall the currently installed driver.

To do that, click on "Start" and type in the search box " device manager " and press enter. Go to " Mice and other pointing devices" and right click on touch pad driver and click on Uninstall. You will get a box to delete the software supporting the driver. Check that box and proceed with un- installation. Restart your system and once the system is back into windows, please run the touch pad driver saved on your desktop.

Once the installation completes, it should ask to to restart your system. Restart your system and touch pad should work now. The scroll pad on my Dell XPSlx stops working properly after a minute or so after logging in from cold.

Scrolling becomes very sticky and erratic. The buttons still work. I close the lid for 5 seconds, re-open, log in again, and it works well from then on until the next time I start the computer up from sleeping. I am using Windows 7. I had similar problems with my Vostro under Windows XP but never found the consistent work-around that I use now.

I have checked that the drivers are up to date. I booted up in safe mode and the touchpad works ok in safe mode, but as soon as I boot back into normal mode and login to windows the touchpad stops working Thanks.
