I love this game! We have been playing it for years! I am going through the green glass doors with pudding but not yogurt. I am going through the green glass doors with my mittens but not my gloves. I am going through the green glass doors with waffles but not pancakes.
I am going through the green glass doors with my earrings but not my necklace. I am going through the green glass doors yelling but not whispering.
How do you play? I always love to learn a new game! Can I go? Ah Shucks, I got it the wrong way round. I think I can go through now. I will use this game for my students.
Id like to find out about that paint the moon game. Yes Holden, you can go! Do you have any more information for me on how you play it? You then have to figure out the secret. Thanks, Andrew! Does the first person make up their own rule, or is there one rule everyone is trying to guess? It involves how you interact with one another. Ah I see. Well, I always love to learn a new game! If you want, email me the instructions at [email protected]. I could write a post on it so others could play, too!
Post another to make sure you can go through. Whoever states what the pattern is gets to start the next pattern. Example: I am going to the moon and I am bringing a cab, a bicycle and an elevator. Thanks, Oren! You sure can! You can come to the moon also if you know my example pattern. Is that correct?
And I can go. But Aladdin, Cinderella, and Belle can! The answers that fit the pattern are almost endless. I would like to get some feedback on why this kind of game is engaging. In your opinion, why do these kind of games hold our attention? There are an endless number of answers, but I think it does still take some creativity to find an answer and a non-answer in a clever pair, and that can be fun. What do you think? I would agree with you but I think there might be something deeper than that.
It seems to me that there is something in our human nature that looks for patterns in order to understand something better and find something meaningful. If other people are able to respond to a pattern in meaningful ways, I, too, want to look for a pattern that makes sense out of something that is nonsense to me now.
We assume the world can make sense and we look for it. Uh-oh, try again, Wencher! I am going through the green glass doors and I am bringing a sister and a wall but not a beam or bar.
Oh no, try again, Sara! A wall can go through the green glass doors, but not a sister. Took me a minute, but I think I got it! In the land of the deep but not profound, there are bathrooms but not toilets, grooms but not brides, lagoons but not estuaries. Ah, unfortunately, neither of those can go through! So can the Book of Mormon! It is the same principle, with children even adults sometimes… going in a circle. I love it! Thanks for sharing, that is awesome! My husband, who lived in France for a couple years, especially loves it.
It would be a fun compilation, too. My sister told me this. So,I looked it up online here and cheated. Haha, our high school basketball team used to play this on the bus to away games. It took me at least a year before I figured it out…. You know, actually and this is putting a lot of thought into it , I think this clue would be too much of a hint and would make it too easy for the guessers.
That would clue the guessers in on the fact that the spelling matters most. Before playing, I tell my students that if they figure it out, dont shout it out. Then we can continue and they are now in on it too.
To let me know that they know the solition, they tell me 3 things in a row that may go, and 1 that can not. Awesome game! And I, Mr Seefeld can go even though teachers are not allowed through! Ive pondered other games like this with the same idea because the thrill og GGD may only be experienced once in a lifetime.
True Blue Gate was my best one. Can you guess the rule now that you know green glass doors solution? My best guess on True Blue Gate is words with a silent E? Thanks for sharing, Mr. A girl cannot go through but a grill can.
No students either, but teenagers. A noodle can make it through, but not soup! No soup for you! I think I need to eat something. A platter goes in, but not a dish. A buddy gets through, but not a friend. A villain gets in, but not an enemy. I am entertained just making up related in some way words. Thank you for this game idea! I had never heard of it. Personally I think when you have a two-word phrase like green banana , both words should be able to go through the green glass doors.
My friend told it to me like this- There was a green glass door. Everything can go in it. Talk about splitting hairs and people lol. Skip to content So, you want to know the secret to green glass doors? So, some things that could go through the green glass doors: grass, but not flowers a happy person, but not a sad person mushrooms, but not a fungus feet, but not toes overalls, but not blue jeans apples, but not bananas Get the idea? Deanna This is an awesome game. Manuela It is supposed to be double letter.
It ruins all the fun. You pay close attention and you will crack the code in a minute or even less.
Have you ever heard someone criticize you for being too attentive to detail? Well, not in this game. It is all about paying attention, focusing on the sentence and the word placed in the blank by players who have gotten it correct so far. Since you are still reading and have not cracked the code so far, here comes the trick of the game right now.
It is, drum roll… the double letter bamboozles. If up until now you were thinking of logical connections or categorical selection, you would be dumbfounded to see that the answer was right in your face with the title. Each person around the circle can only bring something with name consisting of double letters like butter and apple or books through the Green Glass Door.
Green… double e. Glass… double s. Door… double o. When you pay attention to the detail of the word uttered by the person who gets it right, you will figure it out. Below is a list of hoaxes to confuse your players even more profoundly and peak their interest.
So some of the players will guess the fruit category saying words like bananas or apricots. But neither will be correct.
