What causes blue screen windows vista

This can get rid of poorly installed drivers. If you boot it in Safe Mode, Windows will load just the most important drivers. If a recent driver installation is causing the blue screen error, it will not cause it in Safe Mode. So you can solve the issue from there. If you can not boot your PC into safe mode, you should find the solution to fix the issues that can't enter Safe Mode in Windows.

Once the screen is where it needs to be removed. Remember what you were doing when this screen appeared and this could identify the software that is to blame. This may make it easy to get your computer working again. The code error should help you decide what to do and you can think about any recent changes you have made to your device.

It is bound to be a problem in the hardware that causes the Blue screen of Death on a computer. If it is not that then the best guess will be hardware driver software. Quite often the issue will be due to low-level software that is running in the Windows kernel. It is very unlikely that it will be a regular app that will be the cause, but on occasions, this could be the case.

The operating system will not be taken out through an app crashing so don't waste time looking at them as the cause of the screen. A STOP error is a catalyst for a blue screen appearing. When it happens there will be a complete crash and Windows will no longer perform. All that will happen is that the PC will restart but the bad news is that it will not save any previously unsaved data as the programs do not get the chance to do this.

One reason can be corrupt files or the loss of data. This can be more expensive to deal with for a company than an individual but it is still best to avert it when you can. If the problem can be solved in the house this will be best but it is not always an option. If a file becomes corrupted you will not be able to open or use it. On occasions they can be repaired, but often will be lost and need to be replaced.

Test for resolution problems: Turn the resolution, screen refresh, everything, down to the bare minimums. Drivers: When did this start and what has changed? Heat: Heat causes a wide variety of problems.

Good luck and may the force be with you. Monday, April 28, AM. Hi, Sometimes it happens just after I have logged on and other times it just happens randomly when I'm watching a video or browsing the web. One time I just left it downloading an iTunes update, came back 20mins later and it had crashed.

That pic I took was not what happens when it freezes but during a boot up after the initial crash. I forgot to mention that when I was in safe mode for an hour or 2 it didnt crash but that may just have been good luck! I'm currently at uni and so dont have access to another monitor but I will try when I get home I'll change the resolution and see how it goes. I'm not really sure what changed, I updated the graphics drivers AFTER the problem started in order to try and fix it.

I have aimed a large desk fan at it and we'll see if that brings them down. It did indeed ship with Vista Home Premium but I am reluctant to return the laptop as its such a hastle especially since I'm at uni.. I may just wait it out till I finish for the summer. I have sent a support request to dell but have yet to hear back. Thanks for the help, Nick.

Monday, April 28, PM. Well, if you can dupe it every day then I would suggest running it all day in Safe Mode if you can. If you can not duplicate in Safe Mode after a day or whatever time frame it dies on you then it is probably not your monitor going out this is good. This would leave other things to troubleshoot at that time drivers, bad vid card, heat, etc. Finally I managed to find out what it is. This time when it happened it actually showed me the bluescreen and I could make out what the problem was, its a memory issue.

I'm going to run Vistas memory diag tool and see what happens. I'm going to guess your vid card memory is bad ugh. Good luck! Thanks for all your help, Dell support finally got back to me and I'll see what they say. Tuesday, April 29, PM. Monday, May 5, AM. Monday, May 5, PM. Hi I got my Toshiba satellite last year for my birthday and have had nothing but trouble with live messenger since I got it, to the point where I've had to eave it off line all the time so people cant try to contact me. It hasn't mattered because it always stops responding after a little while anyway even though I'm not actively using it.

Even hotmail has been a problem! I've just uninstalled those as someone suggested so hopefully that will help. More recently I installed SP1 and my programs started randomly closing, no warning or error message they just closed, again it asked if I wanted to search for a solution online bt that has never worked even once.

Then yesterday I started getitng blue screens. The only changes I'd made before were installnig new RAM, I installed 2GB because on 1GB it used to get so hot the air blown out would burn me and it even smelt like it was burning glue. It's not getting nearly as hot since upgrading the RAM.

The following day I installed SP1 and that's when all the real problems seemed to start. Also use AVG. Almost everyone who's posted a fix has mentioned one of these problems so does anyone have any idea which is going to be most likely to be the problem? I really have no idea where to start I've had two BSODs today, so far, although not had one for half hour.

The last one I had only just restarted after doing a memory check and hadn't even touched anything since it had booted into my desktop. Sunday, July 6, PM. I forgot to mention! When I installed SP1 my sound icon and a couple of other buttons disappeared from my tool bar! I had some sounds muted at the time and now cant get them back because windows defender wont classify the volumecontrol.

It also seems to be blocking it's own botton now! Will uninstalling SP1 cause me even more issues thatn I'm already having? Any1 know how to unistall adobe reader 8.
