When your opponent's king cannot move without being captured, you have won the game. Each player starts with 16 pieces, arranged in two rows. When you move one of your pieces to a square that your opponent occupies, you capture that piece and remove it from the game. Click on the Chess piece you want to move.

Squares where it can move will be blue; squares where your piece can capture an opponent's piece will be red. Next, click on the space where you want the piece to land. Pawns - can only move forward, one square at a time. On the first move, a pawn can move forward either one or two squares.

Rooks —can move forward, backward, or sideways in either direction for as many squares as you want. Knights are the only piece that can jump over other pieces. Queens - move in a straight line forward, back, sideways, and diagonal for as many spaces are you want. Other than the king, the queen is the most valuable piece.
